North Carolina Environmental Education - Citizen's Guide to Neuse River EE
The Office of Environmental Education created the Teachers' Guide to Environmental Education Programs and Resources as a service to and source of information for the educators of North Carolina. The guide highlights environmental education programs offered by the North Carolina Department of Environment and Natural Resources. It includes field trips, outreach programs, professional development opportunities, and support materials for teachers. Each entry in the guide contains the following format: a summary of the type of program, audience, location, when it is offered, cost information, and a contact for further information. We encourage your questions and comments and urge you to contact the appropriate Division, Agency, or Environmental Education Center for more information on the programs listed in the guide.

North Carolina Environmental Education Centers
Environmental Education center is defined as "any facility open to the public with programs and resources which promote environmental education through programs and processes that increase awareness, knowledge, and skills, and result in understanding, making informed decisions, taking constructive action, and making the commitment to ensure stewardship of all interdependent parts of the earth's environment." The Office of EE identifies and promotes these centers throughout North Carolina.

North Carolina Environmental Education Certification Program
The North Carolina Environmental Education Certification Program is designed to reward professional development in environmental education. The Certification Program consists of 200 hours of workshops and other activities in the following components: 1.Instructional Workshops (70 hours), 2. Environmental Education Experiences in the Out-of-Doors (50 hours), 3. Knowledge of Environmental Education Resources (30 hours), 4. Teaching (30 hours), and 5. Action Partnership (20 hours). education.
