Iowa Envirothon
The Iowa Envirothon - The program is designed to cultivate a desire to learn more about Iowa's natural resources and environmental issues through competitive events. - The DNR assists the Conservation Districts of Iowa in co-sponsoring the Iowa Envirothon. The Iowa Envirothon is the state affiliate of North America’s largest high school environmental program, the Canon Envirothon. The program encourages students to integrate and apply knowledge and skills learned in agriculture, biology, botany, chemistry, earth science, zoology, and other areas of study in Iowa’s high schools. Students can compete in regional and national competitions to earn awards and prizes.

Iowa Recreational Activity Safety Programs
ONline database of saftey courses offered by the Iowa DNR. The Iowa DNR Law Enforcement Bureau offers a variety of recreational educational safety programs to students age 12 or older. These courses teach students to be careful, courteous, capable and considerate while enjoying these outdoor recreational activities.

Iowa Trout Country!
Trout belong to the Salmon family and represent the only coldwater game fish species in Iowa. Three trout species, one native and two naturalized, are found in our state. Brook trout, as far as can be determined from past records, have always inhabited some of the coldwater streams in the northeastern section of the state, especially those that have high water quality and remain cold throughout the entire year. Brown trout are not native to this continent but were introduced from Europe during the late 1800`s. Rainbow trout are native to the Pacific Coast region.
